Hamid Mamdouh has played key roles in trade policy and diplomacy for thirty five years. He believes unequivocally in the Multilateral Trading System (MTS) and its rule-based foundation.


From his work as a negotiator for Egypt (since 1985) and as a senior WTO official (since 1990), he has authoritative knowledge and profound experience in trade policy and negotiations. During the Uruguay Round, he was the lead Secretariat official on the negotiation and drafting of the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) and part of the Legal Drafting Group for the overall WTO Agreement
